Policies and Information
Welcome!
I’m thrilled to have you join my music lessons. The information below contains essential information to help you get started and succeed in your musical journey with me.
About Your Private Lessons
Your private music lessons are designed to develop your technical skills, musical expression, and love for music. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced musician, I will provide instruction and guidance tailored to your level and interests. I believe in creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can flourish.
Parents
Parents have the freedom to sit in on the first few sessions. My experience is that students are more focused and learn better if the parents aren't in the room during lessons. There will be a TV screen in the lobby at Springdale to allow you to monitor the lessons.
What to Expect
Your first lesson will include an assessment of your current level, discussion of your musical interests and goals, and an introduction to the fundamentals. Don’t worry if you’re starting from scratch—I work with students at all levels.
Tips for effective practice
• Aim for consistent practice sessions, ideally 20-30 minutes daily for beginners, progressing to 45-60+ minutes as you advance
• Establish a dedicated practice space free from distractions
• Keep a practice journal to track what you work on and your progress
• Quality matters as much as quantity—focused practice is more valuable than unfocused time
• Break difficult pieces into smaller sections
• Practice slowly before playing at tempo
• Identify problem areas and spend extra time there
• Record yourself to hear your progress and areas for improvement
• Bring a recording of a practice session to the lesson
